Leave it Behind: Shedding the Year of the Snake

On this New Year’s Eve of the Fire Horse, it is an ideal time to reflect upon the Year of the Snake. As we shared in previous posts, the energy of this new lunar year carries with it an intense energy with great potential for our prosperity. Thus, how are we accessing and navigating these energies?

As this new lunar year energy of the Fire Horse begins to enter, the Year of Snake energy is returning to whence it came, creating a powerful current taking with it all that we are ready and able to release. Similar to when waves crash onto the shore, there is a strong current that follows and pulls back into the ocean, we will be in this phase for the next month as the transition between lunar year energies continues to barrel in and return to whence it came.

Therefore, today, on this New Year’s Eve it is an ideal time to write out a list of what you are ready to leave behind in the Year of the Snake. Allow the receding energy of the Year of the Snake to take with it that which you are ready to shed, release and let go.

In whatever way you like to journal, write goals or resolutions, write a list of all the things you are ready to leave behind or shed. Anytime you release and let go, space is created - it is important to always fill the space created with light rather than leaving it empty. Therefore, at the bottom of the list it is a good idea to write an intention of what are you filling this space with. For now, it can be something general such as:

“I ask that in the space created by this process of letting go and releasing is filled with the new light of the new year filled with unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness”.

This is a solid place holder of light and for those who may have been working on their “Seeds of Light” and “Capital Cities of Light”, you are asking that the new lunar year energy fill the space with all of that light.

These powerful currents of energy will continue to flow in and recede out for the next month until the Spring Equinox on March 20th, 2026 at which point the energy of the new lunar year of the Fire Horse will have settled into place anchored in your seeds of light and all of the Year of the Snake energy will have taken with it all that needs to be removed. Thus, if you are just starting this process today, there is still time to continue to identify and take steps towards what you are leaving behind and what you are building to prosper this year.

The unique opportunity of this year is the power and intensity of the energies that are accessible for true transformation and prosperity. This is a year of great potential to build and prosper, but, before we build we must consider what it is that resides within us that prevents us from moving forward, taking action, building, receiving and creating more light, abundance and flourishing. Therefore, consider expanding the list of what you are ready to leave behind to include patterns of thinking and feeling (e.g. habits of the mind), rules, expectations, obligations, as well as feelings of pain, hurt, anger, resentment, and jealousy.

Here are some examples of things to consider leaving behind, if you are ready and are willing to do the work:

I leave behind in the Year of the Snake, the following:

• Fear, pain, suffering, anger towards and about these situations and people (list the situations and names of people);

• The habit of comparing myself to others, harsh self-criticism and lack of empathy or compassion for myself;

• Taking things personally (e.g. their behavior towards me is not a reflection of me, but of them);

• Insecurity / doubt in whether I am enough (i.e. good enough at my work, good enough family member or friend, good enough as decided by who?)

• Need to plan and control and anticipate the worse possible outcomes and call it “being mindful and prepared”

• Putting others needs above my own health & well-being

• Viewing self-care as a luxury rather than a responsibility and necessity

• Feeling bad or guilty for things that are not my fault or have no reason to feel bad / guilty about

• All helping is healthy and helpful - sometimes, helping is enabling avoidance of learning, growth, health and well-being.

I ask that as all of these things listed here are left behind in the Year of the Snake energy of 2025, I am filled with God’s heavenly divine healing light of unconditional love, compassion, strength, fortitude and clarity of my light, path and purpose.

We hope this example helps you consider what additional layers you could leave behind in the year of snake, so you can make room for the building of prosperity in your life as we embark on this journey and expansion in the Year of the Fire Horse of 2026.
